Roles:
The
role of Depot Rhodesia Armoured Car Regiment (RhACR) is to train
members posted to RhACR, to a standard which will enable them to assume
duty as trained members of the RhAC.
The roles of the RhACR are to train for and be prepared to take part in the following types of operations:
a. Counter Intelligence Operations (COINOPS) and Internal Security Operations (ISOPS)
Curfew patrols, Flag marches, Crowd dispersal and follow-up, Road blocks, Cordons, Communication tasks, Traffic control, Fire support, Escort duties, Guarding of vulnerable points, Reconnaissance, Demolishing enemy strong points and Urban and rural operations in the infantry role.
b. Classical War
Advance to contact (Battle reporting and Maintaining a line of surveillance), Delaying action in the withdrawal, Flank guards, Deep penetration, Exploitation of gaps in the advance, Disruption of enemy in the pursuit and disruption of enemy vehicles.
It is important that the Regiment can operate as a unit and that each squadron can operate independently
