a. To train recruits (normally for the Territorial Army) to such a standard as to enable them to assume duty as trained soldiers in the units to which they are subsequently posted.
b. To select personnel at a certain stage of their training to carry out subsequent training at DRR for the RhAMC, infantry support weapons platoons, regimental police, clerks, storemen and cooks.
c. To provide up to two rifle companies for operations when required to do so by Army HQ.
d. To hold Leader Selection Boards and select potential junior leaders for the Territorial Army.

Neill Jackson (RhArmy) Writes:- The two men in the middle of the front row were later reunited as Commander and Deputy Commander 1 Brigade in 1980.
They are Brigadier (later Major General) Mike Shute and Colonel 'Muck' Micklesfield.
