The roles of Grey's are:
a. Long range patrolling and reconnaissance of rural areas.
b. Tracking and follow-up on horseback.
c. Deep penetration in support of armoured cars.
d. To be prepared to act as dismounted infantry when required.
Motto
HistoryThe Greys Scouts were raised as a mounted infantry unit at Incomo. They perpetuated the name of the volunteer unit raised during the Matabele Rebelion. The unit was formed as a mixed race unit of 150 to 200 men. Click here for the detailed formation history.
